BAFA funding in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: 80% instead of 50% – and only until the end of 2026

The BAFA consulting subsidy covers in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania 80% of the costs of business consulting. Based on the maximum assessment basis of €3,500, this amounts to up to €2,800 in funding at €700 own contribution. The increased rate applies because MV is classified as a structurally weak region – in the old federal states it is 50 %.

• Old federal states, e.g. Hamburg or Schleswig-Holstein: 50% funding rate, up to €1,750 grant

The assessment basis of €3,500 is the same nationwide – only the funding rate differs. For companies in MV, this means a grant that is €1,050 higher for the same consulting service.

The deadline: 31/12/2026

The current program phase of BAFA consulting funding runs until 31 December 2026 temporary. Anyone who still wants to take advantage of the increased funding rate should not postpone the project until the end of the year: the consulting may only begin after receipt of the funding approval, and there is processing time between application and approval. A project that has already started is excluded from funding.

Requirements

• Small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) with a specific need for consulting
• Consulting topics: economic, financial, personnel-related or organizational questions of business management
• The consultation is provided by an authorized consultant listed with BAFA
• A maximum of five completed consultations per company during the program period, with no more than two per year

Why do I receive 80% in MV and only 50% in Hamburg?

The BAFA funding guideline scales the funding rate by region. The new federal states (excluding Berlin and the Leipzig region) as well as the Lüneburg and Trier regions receive 80%, while the rest of Germany receives 50%. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is entirely part of the first group.

Can I have multiple consultations funded?

Yes. During the program period, up to five separate consultations are possible, with a maximum of two per year. Each consultation requires its own application and a clearly defined topic.

When may I start the consultation?

Only after receiving the funding approval. Anyone who starts earlier loses eligibility. That is why we always plan the application with sufficient lead time before the desired start of the consulting project.

What is the difference to INQA coaching?

The BAFA funding covers traditional business consulting with up to €2,800. INQA coaching supports a much more extensive, participation-oriented implementation project with up to €11,520 over up to twelve coaching days. In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, both are funded at 80% and can be used one after the other for different topics.
